The Departments of the Jamia

The departments of the Jamia can be divided into three categories: (1) Academic Departments (2) Administrative Departments (3) Financial Departments.

(a) Academic Departments

Within the realm of academic departments, are the following departments:

(1) Department of Arabic Language:
This department encompasses the teaching of 'Nahw Meer' and 'MizanusSarf' up to the Hadith Sharif (the final year of Aalimiyyah course). Although all the textbooks are almost in Arabic, the medium of instruction is Urdu. The curriculum for this department spans over a period of six years.

(2) Department of Persian Language:
This department is for the teaching of the Persian language, covering from introductory levels to advanced levels. The curriculum includes the study of Persian language, ranging from 'Hamd-e Bari' to 'Bostan'. The duration of this department's curriculum is three years. This three-year program in Persian is completed alongside primary classes.

(3) Department of Tajweed and Qirat (phonetic rules for reciting the Qur’an:
In this department, students of Arabic and Persian classes are required to practice the rules of recitation (Qawaid-e Tajweed) and also study books on the subject of Tajweed. Without completing this compulsory subject, no student is granted a graduation certificate of Aalimiyyah. The curriculum for this department spans two years.

(4) Department of Quran Memorisation:
This department is for the students who aim to memorize the Holy Qur’an. The curriculum for this department is designed for a maximum duration of three years.

(5) Department of Elementary Education and Nazera (by-sighting Quranic Recitation):
This department focuses on teaching children from NooraniQaeda (basic phonetics of reading Arabic language) to Nazera (by-sighting Quranic recitation). The curriculum for this department is set for a maximum duration of two years.

(6)Department of Primary Education:
This department is divided into two sections: Upper Primary and Lower Primary. The first section has a curriculum duration of three years, which is completed alongside the Persian Department. The second section has a curriculum duration of two years, which is completed alongside the Nazera and Hifz (by-sighting recitation and memorisation) of the Quran.

(7) Department of Arabic Practice:
This department focuses on teaching students how to speak Arabic.

(8) Darul Ifta:
This department issues fatwas in response to the questions received from various sources, providing guidance to the Muslim Ummah based on the principles of Islamic law.

(9) Department of Ifta:
This department has a two-year curriculum that provides education in issuing fatwas, including the training of muftis and the art of writing fatwas.

(b) Administrative Departments

Within the realm of administrative departments, are the following departments:

(1) Library:
This department houses a vast collection of academic and non-academic books, which are made available for borrowing to both students and teachers. Alhamdulillah, the Jamia's library currently holds over 21,000 different textbooks and non-textbooks covering various fields and disciplines. The library has been named after the Jamia's first chancellor, Hazrat Maulana Hashmat Ali (may his soul rest in peace).

(2) Kitchen:
This is a permanent department that operates throughout the whole year, in which food is prepared for those staying in the Jamia. The food enough for as many as two thousand persons is prepared two times a day, which is given free of cost to the eligible students. And those who can afford to pay for their meals are not charged any extra amount, instead they have to pay only the actual cost.

(3) Construction:
This department is responsible for constructing new buildings for the Jamia as well as the renovating and maintaining the existing structures.

(4) Reading Room:
This department is responsible for arranging newspapers, journals, and essential books for the study of students. It provides a conducive environment for the students to enhance their knowledge through reading at different times.

(5) Hostels:
Through this department, regular organization of the accommodation, as well as moral supervision and well-being of the students residing in the Jamia hostels are done.

(6) Alumni Association:
This department is dedicated to organizing and maintaining records of the alumni who have graduated from the Jamia since its establishment, and to keep track of their services and contributions in various fields.

(7) Miscellaneous:
This department is responsible for the maintenance of cleanliness, water supply, essential requirements, needs of the Masjid, and electricity arrangements throughout the Jamia.

(8) Department of Publishing:
This department handles the dissemination and publication of the announcements from the management as well as it informs people of the needs of the Jamia.

(9) Department of Preaching:
This department sends preachers to various parts of the country to enlighten people about the correct teachings of Islam. These preachers are sent under some organized programs to fulfill this role.

(10) Department of Exercise and Sport:
This department organises physical sports and activities for the students, ensuring their overall physical well-being alongside their academic development.

(8) Rahimiyah Library:
This library serves as the center for cultural activities of the Jamia's students, where they practice speaking, writing, and debating.

(c) Department of Financial Services

This department has the following branches:

(1) Accounting:
This department maintains a detailed record of the Jamia's income and expenditures. The fundamental documents for this department include revenue registers, daily entries, and monthly financial statements. All accounts undergo an annual audit in accordance with the prescribed regulations.

(2) Department of Endowments and Properties:
This department maintains a detailed account of all the properties, including residential and agricultural endowments, owned or acquired from time to time by the Jamia.

(3) Department of Fundraising:
This department comprises representatives who travel to different parts of the country to collect donations and contributions for the capital of the Jamia in an organized manner.
